A comment on the problem "Holds dropping at random since update?" in Tapulous:
I'm not playing much these days, but I'll try to remember to post when/if I see it again, with more details.
PS. Before I forget, it also wasn't related to battery charge as that was at least 80% or so. – BUFULO, on March 06, 2010 08:36

I don't have or use an app to free memory. I may try a Backup & Restore if it really becomes annoying. It's a pretty rare event.
PS. These are holds that were being held & then dropped for no obvious reason (while still being held, no movement, no errant tap, etc.). – BUFULO, on March 06, 2010 08:32-

Holds dropping at random since update? While holding a tap & hold, sometimes the hold just randomly drops. Your streak isn't lost (streak count continues) but the multiplier indicator goes to 1x (nothing in the bar). I'm pretty sure scoring continues at 8x because the last time it happened I also got the #1 spot on the leaderboard for Viva la Vida.
There seems to be a screen flicker when it drops, but that could just be the background graphic changing to the non-revenge graphic. I think it does this with a pure hold. In other words, it happens all by itself without another tap to set it off. The last time it happened, I closed the app & checked memory which was fine @ ~144 MB on a 3GS.
I've only seen this happen maybe half a dozen times since the update. It's definitely happening, just not enough to really get any more details yet.-

A comment on the problem "I've had it with this bullshit" in Tapulous:
WAY easier said than done, especially on the more difficult songs & with thumbs & when you're REALLY old like me! Also, if you tap too quickly, especially with cold fingers, the touches won't register at all.
Tapulous should just ELIMINATE the OVERLAPPING TAP TARGETS or, better yet, provide a user setting to disable or reduce the overlap. Should be a trivial software change. – BUFULO, on January 16, 2010 00:38
A comment on the problem "I've had it with this bullshit" in Tapulous:
The overlapping tap target issue/bug is not really specific to any particular lane. It just seems that way because of your particular grip & even your finger/thumb size. I suspect even the shape of the contact patch your finger/thumb makes may influence the Apple OS algorithms used to determine the center of the tap.
I've posted on this before (every chance I get) but I really hope Tapulous revisits this issue. They need to either provide a user calibration or a "grip in use" setting or something that adjusts the touch center AND/OR simply provide a user option to DISABLE TAP TARGET OVERLAP!
I'm sure plenty of people will find the current implementation is best for them, but I think Tapulous is under-estimating how many people would benefit from no overlap! – BUFULO, on January 16, 2010 00:32

A comment on the problem "The accelerometer problem" in Tapulous:
Ed, there has to be an API to set a neutral position. Other apps are able to do it DURING gameplay (which is what TTR should do at the start of each game).
I think there's more to this issue than "zeroing the accelerometers" unless this means something other than setting a neutral position. If it refers to some aspect of the accelerometer hardware that is voltage (power state?) sensitive, I guess that would make more sense. FWIW, I too have found that rebooting is the only consistently reliable way to get them working again. – BUFULO, on January 12, 2010 08:27-
