How do I stop a hacker?
Help, my Twitter account has been hacked and someone has sent out direct messages to hundreds of my followers sending them to this link http://blogger.djhxkcs.com. I have changed my password is there anything else I should do in order to be safe?

Exactly the same problem. Getting fed-up -
You might authorize the third party to access your account, if you are sure you have no such authorization, you can simply change the password of you twitter account, if you built some relationship with the third parties, you can go to setting then click connect, review the connection, if you found who make the spam, you can revoke the access. -

Inappropriate?The Long Answer:
Majority of the time, the Spammer / Scammers have compromised your Password, and the only damage is being done from Twitter.com . Changing the Password, Notifying Twitter, etc. may solve the problem.
But there is always the possibility that the Spammers have gotten into your hard drive. Trojans, viruses, zombies, malware, or other Invaders might be planted in your computer.
You may want to do a thorough check-up of your Computer.
For Browser Cleaning, use not only the IE / Firefox / Safari / Opera tools provided, but also use a software product like CCleaner or Cleanup Assistant. Set the program to Secure Cleaning (such as Gutmann 35 Passes).
Run an Anti-Virus Scan, run a Spyware Check. If you use an advanced Firewall System such as Comodo, see if anything turns up there.
A Registry Scan may be in order (use Extreme Caution when tinkering with the Registry - unless you consider yourself an Expert on Registry Cleaning, Do NOT Touch your Registry - get help from a qualified technician or geek).
Windows Vista users - remember, data is backed up at Restore Points and elsewhere. Just because you "Cleared your Browser", doesn't mean that the Data cannot be retrieved. You may wish to Create a New Restore Point, and then Delete any old Restore Points. Also, beware of data backed up by Shadow Copy - http://www.shadowexplorer.com/ . Once again, unless you are above-average or expert regarding this topic, get some help from a qualified technician or geek.
One more thing - Check your Stored Passwords. You can do a Google Search for how to View or Change or Delete Stored Passwords on IE, Firefox, Safari, or Opera Browser.
It's a War out there - keep your shields up!

Inappropriate?I agree with a lot of what Fred says. Those are my "Best practices" tips to many I know/interact with. Even with these implementations, there aren't always guarantees. One thing I tell twitter users (tweeps) is to NEVER click on links sent by DM. Twitter has made a statement to that effect on one of their blogs. Having a shortened URL doesn't help any when scrolling over the link. But if I receive a link via a DM (even from a friend (their account may have been compromised)), I immediately delete.
Don't click on links if you have even the slightest doubt.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Thank you Ian for your suggestion. Yesterday I did what you suggested in your reply. There were no applications in my Connections except GetSatisfaction. I was then locked out of my acct. I cleared my browser cache as suggested here: http://help.twitter.com/forums/10713/... and I could get into my acct again. Then this morning, I was locked out again. I reset my password via email. So far, so good. And, BTW, there are still no other applications in my Connections. It's just very frustrating, but your suggestions are appreciated.

Inappropriate?Sadly ,my line was compromised last night as I was twitting with wireless Internet connection , I am not entirely sure this was outcome of my neighbours whom they have been abusing my wireless connection , or they are running home Prono activities , eventually I would catch them .

Inappropriate? If you use Microsoft Windows, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials and scan your hard drive to make sure you don't have a virus. Use Google to find and download Microsoft Security Essentials. Don't follow links to anti-virus utilities in message boards, or (especially) adverts on websites, because those links may themselves be malicious. The link on Google for a search for "Microsoft Security Essentials", if it points to a microsoft.com website, can be trusted.
Change your Twitter password and the password for any other services that you use that have the same password. Don't use the same password for multiple services in future.
If you use GMail, use the Last Account Activity link at the bottom of the screen to see if your GMail account has been hacked. If it has, change the password to something secure.
In Twitter, in Settings, if you have allowed access for any third party applications to your Twitter account there will be an option in the blue bar called 'Connections'. If you don't trust any of the connections 100%, disable them, because they can access your Twitter account and post as if they were you. This especially applies to Mafia wars and other such games -- they are run by dishonest people and you should not trust them.
If you use internet explorer to browse the web, you should consider switching to Firefox, Chrome or Opera. These browsers have far fewer instances of being hacked than Internet Explorer.

Inappropriate?I don't know if you have already taken care of your problem, but let me tell you this is super serious, my beloved husband and I went through the same thing and they stole our identities, my husband was still alive at the time however he had leukemia, when I took him upto the hospital they had no record at all ofhim ever being there. I was told to buy a router hope I spelled it right, also to steer clear of myspace as that was how they hacked through, if you would like or need any help I'd be more than happy to try just tweet to me and I'll gladly try and help, also be sure anytime your online at either facebook, myspace anything like that be sure to do a scan, also don't delete it, quarantine, also do not change your password as when i did that I lost everything off my computer, they were ready and waiting they had it texted to their cellphone, so be careful, I hope and pray your safe and secure by now! God Bless!

Regretably , it seems that problem arise from Google itself, somebody within without my consent inseted one of my picture in the files of account , not only that a well published historical evidence of an Video, removed after a long lime being publishe at the YouTube, Reason: VIOLATION, of what kind , it has been recorded 1979 , being at YouTube for ages , or is it new dirty politics , as it was imposing the all criminals of Humanity ? I wonder? -
I really detest these people who violate us like this, I can tell you first hand it was a horrible thing we went through and my husband was very ill, he had leukemia, they didn't care, they just took over our lives, it was awful and let me tell you if you live in Canada good luck getting them to be understanding, we were looked at like we were from mar's I was so angry with this one woman I near hit her and for me to hit another person believe you and me its not something I would ordinarily do but I was so angry and scared, he needed medical attention,, blood and platelets and I couldnt' get his file found, finally a nice doctor with a "Heart" arrived and he went out of his way for us, without him I probably might have lost my husband a couple of years before I did, as it is I still haven't ever forgot all the terrible things we went through!
I also wanted to say I never heard of you tube taking down a video, you should look into that more, perhaps it was a mistake, I know your going what is she totally stupid, but someone might have taken it just upload it again then see what happens, its worth a try right?! Sorry if I over stepped just trying to help! -
Inappropriate?Hope your husband recovered well, it isn't nice to add up stress to the people's difficult times , nor it is anyone liberty to hacke in or nose into anyone private matters .
The Video that was blocked were about Zionist lobby about Persian Golf ,as Ex Shah of Iran were interviewed by American educated Political Journalist ,he was impartial and neutral unlike other popets ( dated 1974 ) at YouTube Video series .
